Susan Bio

“Inspired by artists such as The Cardigans, Cyndi Lauper and Madonna her music has been compared to that of Belinda Carlisle and Lene Merlin and the single boasts the first taste of a unique style which integrates a sort of "grown up pop" resonance with the distinctive strains of Bluechild's voice.”

Susan Bluechild at the Sugar Club..

Last Thursday night, June 15th, I was honoured to announce to a packed Sugar Club Irish singer songwriter Susan Bluechild. I happened upon Susan On MySpace about four months back, listened to the tracks on her profile and have been a confirmed fan ever since.I was thrilled to have been one of the first to play Susan's new single If Only available in I-Tunes from the 19th June and the first interview i did with Susan is on her website.

The single is stunning and deserves to be huge.It reminds me of a time when millions tuned into Top Of The Pops to hear their favourite songs and when Sunday afternoons meant taking the phone off the hook so that you could watch MT USA undisturbed. Susan's performance on Thursaday night was breathtaking. The next single Sunrise which will feature an amazing animated video went down a storm as did Susan's performance on the night. I looked forward to hearing songs I had'nt heard before. Saved and Astray for instance were new to me and I was taken in by them.

This was real Pop Music at it's finest and to hear the gorgeous Everybody Wants and the uplifting Rockstar performed live for the first time was a real joy. The icing on the cake was Susan performing a version of the classic Fleetwood Mac track Dreams.

For those of us lucky enough to have been there on the night this gig will stand out for a very long time and next time Susan is in town get yourself along to see an Artist who has a bright future ahead of her and has proved the addage that Pop is alive and well. If only is available for download from the 19th June from I-Tunes. Treat yourself to a copy. It really is the true sound of 2006. Grasp the moment.
